• 1986-1991 Studies of Crystallography at Humboldt University in Berlin
• 1992-1996 PhD thesis in the area of VGF GaAs crystal growth at TU Bergakademie Freiberg
• since 1998 Leibniz Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) in Berlin, the research focus is the growth, modelling and characterization of semiconductor crystals
• since 2011 head of group III-V-VGF at IKZ
• since 2006 Secretary of DGKK
• since 2015 Council member of the  European Network of Crystal Growth (ENCG)
• since 2019 Executive Committee member of the International Organization for Crystal Growth (IOCG)
