The International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) is the international association for crystallographic research and was founded in 1948. Large congresses are organized in a three-annual term. Furthermore, symposia, workshops or tutorials are offered or supported. Other important taks are:

  • Standardizing of crystallographic methods, units, nomenclature and symbols, published in the "International Tables for Crystallography" .
  • Publication of recent research results in IUCr journals, e.g. Acta Cryst (Structure),  Journal of Applied Crystallography (Application, methods, characterization, also crystal crystal growth), Journal of Synchrotron Radiation (Methodik, Charakterisierung, in-situ Methoden), see https://www.iucr.org.
  • Support of young researchers and international cooperation.
