Working group Simulation and Machine Learning
Simulation and Machine Learning for Crystal Growth

W. Miller
The working group Simulation is intended to be a forum for the exchange of information, questions and assistance between engineers and scientists working primarily experimentally and primarily numerically and theoretically, as well as a platform for discussing new mathematical and numerical approaches.
The most important concern is the reference to reality, i.e. the use of simulation calculations to optimize and better understand industry-relevant crystallization processes. The crystal growers should get an easier access to the modeling of growing processes, especially with regard to the advanced software development, which enables the use of simulation programs for more and more complex questions.
Machine learning supports crystal growing in a variety of ways. Whether it is process optimization, image evaluation, prediction of crystal properties, as a supplement to simulation calculations or in many other areas. The fields of application are as diverse and specialized as the techniques of crystal growth and characterization. The focus on machine learning within the working group on simulation is therefore intended as an opportunity to exchange ideas in the field of machine learning, to learn from and with each other.
Termin: DGKK-Arbeitskreis "Simulation und Machine Learning"
03.-04. März, 2026 - Karlsruhe
The AK "Simulation und Machine Learning" will have a joint session with the people from jDGKK in the afternoon of March 3, 2026 with an invited talk on machine learning. Afterwards, together we will go for dinner.
On March 4, 2026 the AK will have a meeting starting in the morning to present and discuss topics related to either simulation or machine learning. We will finish before the start oft DKT.
